What is in a Scope of Work (SOW)?
The SOW is the document you approve in step 3. It protects both sides and removes surprises. A typical SOW contains:
- 1. Background and objective
- The decision or question the research supports.
- 2. Research questions
- Three to six specific questions the work will answer.
- 3. Method and sample
- Design, data sources, sample size and tools.
- 4. Deliverables
- Report length, data files, slides and the walkthrough session.
- 5. Exclusions
- What is not included, so expectations are clear.
- 6. Timeline and milestones
- Dates for kick-off, mid-point review and delivery.
- 7. Team
- Named lead researcher and their qualifications.
- 8. Fee and payment schedule
- Fixed fee in GBP, USD, CAD or AED, paid by milestone.
- 9. Confidentiality and ownership
- NDA terms and who owns the outputs.
- 10. Revisions
- One revision round included; further changes quoted in advance.
Payment
Organisations usually pay 40% on approval of the SOW, 30% at the mid-point review and 30% on delivery. Mentoring is paid per session or per package. We accept international bank transfer.
Frequently asked questions
Is the discovery call really free?
Yes. It is a 20–30 minute conversation with no obligation.
What if the scope changes during the project?
We pause, agree a written change to the SOW and fee, and only then continue.
Can I speak to the researcher directly?
Yes. Your lead researcher is named in the SOW and joins the check-ins and walkthrough.
