What IMRaD means
Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion — the structure used by most journals because it lets readers find what they need quickly.
Title and abstract
The title should include your key variables and context. The abstract (150–250 words) summarises background, aim, method, key results and conclusion.
Introduction
Move from the broad context to the specific gap, and end with your aim or hypotheses.
Methods and results
Methods must be detailed enough for replication. Results report findings without interpretation, using tables and figures.
Discussion and submission
Interpret results against previous studies, state limitations and implications. Before submitting, follow the journal’s author guidelines exactly and check that it is indexed and not predatory.
